The evening before the race, owners with their boats converge on the Mantoloking Yacht Club grounds to display their efforts to keep this class alive. The boats come in every color, every condition and some even have a more modern touch. I like the old school versions! Here are some of the boats.
Charley< were you there for any of the races on Friday? Check out my post on that if you'd like. Nice pics, by the way!
ReplyDeleteThanks Baydog, I am quite new at this Blog stuff, I hope that with some more practice I can become somewhat interesting and meet more people with my same interests.

Charley: In picture 4, don't you think that centerboard line could use a sheave or something to keep it from rubbing over the coaming? I love all the miniature blocks and cleats. With my arthritis, I wonder if I could even grip that thin line!
ReplyDeleteBaydog,
ReplyDeleteActually, I was thinking of inseting a short peice of half round brass moulding in the coaming, under the pennant. As it turns out most of the Ducks have some variation of this system to raise and lower the board.
Is that your boat Charley?
ReplyDeleteBaydog,
ReplyDeleteThe boat belongs to the Friends of Belmar Bay. I was asked to make a new rudder for the boat but wound up making a new boom crutch and a new tiller as well. Marie Darling refinished the mast and boom and repainted the hull. We were both happy to lend a hand so the boat could be shown and judged at the Duck Boat Worlds. I hope that belmar is pleased with our efforts we enjoyed helping out.

ReplyDeleteBaydog,
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your profile, I concluded that I could substitute it for my own. Except for children, I have everything else in common with you; although I did not include that in my profile. Food, Asian delights and culture, woodworking, cooking, fishing, sailing are all part of my life. I have been to Japan, Korea, Tahiti several times and have studied their cultures, all have helped to shape my life here in the good 'Ole USA". Sufice it to say, we both apparently love LIFE.

Right on Charles. Talk about a two-sided post! Before you go back to Fla, let's hook up with Russ and maybe 70.8 and heave to off Swan Point or maybe better yet, Barnegat Light, and knock a few back if that sounds good. The old stuff is what excites me. My upbringing was based on appreciation of the traditional. It will never change. LIFE is great, no matter how much crap is flung your way.
