REDFISH IN THE WIND

Yesterday, my friend from NJ and now Wellington, Fl., David O went fishing for Redfish on the flats. When we set out we did not expect too much because the wind was beginning to pick up to the predicted 15-20, not really conducive to flats fishing, especially sight fishing. We managed to find a Key in the Lee of the wind that allowed us to drift and troll without much trouble, additionally it was clear water, just perfect for the type of fish we were targeting, the wily Redfish. During the shortened day we managed to hook  up three nice fish, all released unharmed, to fight another day.

We used live Pilchard's for bait on light rods to add to the fun, it was a great day on the water that might otherwise have been a blowout.

Nice Redfish, on light tackle

Checking out the tell tale black spot on the tail.
