Last Leg Of The Journey...Cape May - Lewes, De. Ferry.

When I get into the driving zone, it is very easy for me to drive long distances without stopping, except for gas. This trip proved to be no exception, I logged 950 miles the first day and 500 the second day, that's a long time in the saddle but that's how I roll. Light traffic and no construction to speak of, made for a smooth trip while trailering a boat. Taking the Ferry across the Delaware is a luxury that I enjoy because it gives me a break from driving and the NJ Turnpike is taken out of the equation.

It  helps to have a reservation, "proceed to the front of the line".

Some may not make this ferry, first come first served.

Lee Marie all tucked away on the Ferry.

Last Day In Paradise...it rains there too!

My last day at the Fl. homestead, rain fell all day. I'm glad that I had all my preparations complete for the trip back to NJ, doing them in the rain would have been a bummer. The dock looks very empty without the Flatsboat hanging on the davits and the Bay, although raining, remains an inviting sight.

Last day for six Months, sigh!

How Not To Catch A Barracuda

This man and his daughter thought that they were out to catch a few Barracuda for sport and fun, very suddenly the tables turned. This is a poster for how not to deal with an eating machine!

Dad is very proud of his catch, his daughter is not so impressed
Maybe this is why the daughter wasn't smiling
The Barracuda had ideas of his own, ouch!
The Barracuda is finally dispatched by the father's knife, no winner's here.

Starting to Pack!

I have been busy getting in my last few sails, fishing and now starting the tedious process of packing. Thankfully, my friend Roland provides me with a nice room at his place where I can stash most of my stuff until I return next Oct., the extra room keeps me from trucking everything back and forth to NJ.

The days here are getting warmer and warmer, the sun is now high in the sky and you definitely have to protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun, it still fells good though.

I hope to have some more pictures from down here in the Keys before I return to the "Beyond". Until next time, Fair Winds.

One Month To Go

April signals that there is only one month to go before I head back North for the summer. The winter months have flown by this year, it seems like I only arrived here a  couple of weeks ago, this was a great six months. The next few weeks will be spent getting in the last sails and spending some time fishing as well, hoping that the weather does not turn too hot as it usually does this time of the year.

Sailing on the Florida Bay
Speckeled Sea Trout
The weather here today looks to bring a great fishing day, the bay is dead calm and the water clarity couldn't be better, I'm hoping to bring home supper and peerhaps provide my neighbors with some fresh seafood. Tomorrow, the winds are forecast to pick up so a sail out to the middle of the Bay will be in order.
