Early 1900's catboats

This photo could have been taken in the early 1900's, however it was taken two days ago. More and more Catboats are coming to the Fl. Keys to enjoy the shallow water sailing in the Everglades National Park and the pristine Fl. Bay.

The unsightly outboards are a dead giveaway.

  1. Nice! Does my soul good to daydream about sitting on one of those boats while drifting.

  2. Lovely. It really does take one back in time.

Paint the outboards with ocean colors camouflage. Even plain white would help make them less obvious.

  3. I'm pleased. 2 months until Barnegat Oysterfest 2012.

  4. Beach Bum, thanks for your observation, these little craft on this body of water warms the soul. I hope that someday you will be able to share the feeling.

Pandabonium, I only use the small outboard here in Fl' because I have to navigate a short canal from where I dock the boat to the Bay. In NJ I never use the motor so it doesn't even get installed. I like the idea of ocean colors or even white, their appearence really irks me, especially since I only have to use it for five minutes each sail.

    Baydog, there will be Oysters!
